Overview:

Our client is seeking its first People Ops Leader. In this capacity, you will work closely with the leadership team and staff, and report directly to the Founder/Partner of the company. Critical to this role is the ability to enable the company’s continued success by hiring great people, helping them grow, rewarding them, and building healthy and productive workplaces.  You will collaborate with the business to reinforce the company’s values of Curiosity, Passion, Persistence, Empathy and Excellence across its global workforce, every day.  You will work with leadership to empower everyone to do their best work, be themselves, and feel part of a cohesive, inclusive and global community.  You should have solid experience with handling high-level employee relations issues, a background in building solid HR programs that align with business objectives, solid knowledge of CA labor law, and proven experience working in a diverse workforce with the ability to influence varying perspectives. This is a remote position, but only candidates based in California will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with previous work experience in the tech start-up industry. 

Responsibilities:

●      Build and scale outstanding HR programs and processes across a globally distributed team with a strong understanding of California and multi-state employment and labor laws.

●      Design and implement a talent management strategy for the company; Provide strategic and tactical partnership to business leaders and technical recruiting partners to deliver end-to-end recruiting and talent management solutions.

●      Create and design relevant workflow processes to all relevant HR programming for the purpose of driving consistency in practices across all the leadership and their teams.

●      Provide coaching and mentorship to senior leaders, their teams and team members that enables high team and individual performance.  Bring credibility to the HR function via your seasoned experience handling complex issues.

●      Drive employee engagement through relevant action planning, surveys and proactive follow-up.

●      Establish and drive the company’s core values and dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion into people programs and processes.

●      Establish a learning culture paradigm that addresses career development across the organization.

●      Address and successfully resolve employee relations issues, including demonstrating your experience with performance management and conflict resolution strategies.

●      Provide compensation and benefits programs that align with the company’s values and philosophy around building a remote-first workforce.

●      Manage all other day-to-day People Operations tasks.

Requirements:

●      Previous demonstrated experience crafting and deploying HR systems and processes for a distributed or remote workforce.

●      Proven experience influencing and advising senior leaders on sophisticated employment and legal matters through seasoned coaching methodologies and strategies.

●      Previous experience successfully handling complex employee relations, performance management and highly-sensitive employee issues.

●      Previous experience with process implementation in the technical recruiting and talent management functions.

●      Previous experience being the sole HR practitioner with demonstrated experience at both the tactical/operational and strategic level.

●      Previous experience working at a tech start up or high-growth company required.

●      BA degree in HR, Business, Psychology or similar field preferred.

●      Minimum 8+ yrs of relevant HR work experience required at the HRBP/Manager/Director level.

●      Previous managed services/agency experience a plus but not required.
